Unlike any other rig delivery company Ibex Oil Exploration Services offers you a complete service. When we deliver your rig, drilling equipment or any associated project cargoes we undertake responsibility from point of origin through to delivery at destination. You don't need to maintain a costly rig mobilization team on your books.

This means that the mobilisation is managed and carried out by our office of professional rig move hands in direct and constant communication with your office and not by a clearing and forwarding company who are not specialists in this field.

Our project office consult with you from the start of the project to full completion. Our team will have expert knowledge of where the rig is going and what  is required to land the rig on location in a safe and timely manner. We carry out all the preliminary reconnaissance and surveys on the ground.

The operation may require specialist handling: a beach landing close to the drill location, floating accommodation or a jackup platform to gain access to a well head in a re-entry scenario . Any work will be discussed with you prior to the actual move and our knowledge and experience of rig mobilisation and transportation of associated project cargo will ensure the most efficient and cost effective solutions.

We prepare the shipping manifest and cargo packing list/s with all relevant dimensions and weights including any special lifting requirements. Our specialist team organise the packing and preparation of the rig for transport in close co-operation with your own management as this requires detailed project planning and consultation with many parameters to be considered:

  • Route Planning.
  • Load lifting  ( Winch, crane, forklift etc) Ro-Ro or Flo-Flo  methods
  • Are Hazardous Chemicals to be shipped and be containerised or palletised ? etc.
  • Will specialist trucks , cranes etc be available at destination.
  • Load dimension and weight restrictions on destination roads.
  • Is temporary access road construction required?


Our shipping desk solicit tenders from the Clearing & Forwarding Companies to prepare the following, but will oversee the work ourselves:

  • Export Documentation. In some countries foreign exchange forms have to be organised with or through  the banks.
  • Shipping Order, Bill of Entry and Bills of lading.
  • Transportation  to and from the ship side.
  • Duties and wharfages charges at load/discharge port.
  • Clearance at discharge port.


In the next stage of the process our shipping desk identifies the correct type of vessel to transport the rig and associated project cargo from port of origin  to destination port and solicits tenders, for discussion with the client, with the following parameters under consideration:

  • Whether a charter vessel to be used or a liner service is available  / required and what type of shipping contract to be entered i.e. Free in / Free out  terms or straight liner terms .
  • Whether the vessel has the correct lifting gear.
  • Whether the vessel has the correct draft for the load and destination port.
  • Whether the vessel is prepared to discharge at anchor outside of standard port environs
  • What sort of fendering etc is required for anchorage discharge
  • Stevedoring services .
  • Stowage plan of vessel to maximise use of space without risk of damage.

  • Sea fastening / lashing / securing 

After tendering, our project office  appoints trucking and crane companies at destination. We know many of these companies personally having used them in the past. We will be able to ascertain:

  • Availability of tandem tractors and specialist low-bed trucks.
  • Availability of tandem winch tractors.
  • Availability of all cranes and forklifts.

We will provide senior expat superintendents and local labour to provide the following services.

  • Liaison with the Clearing & Forwarding Industry , Ships Agents / Port Authorities and customs official.
  • On ground reconnaissance.
  • Loading at origin. Loading vessels.  Discharge of vessels.
  • Loading and truck pushing.
  • Unloading of trucks at destination.
